Wind Project and the Black Hole

So yeah. it took me forever, and I mean FOREVER to find this music for the wind video. I finally got it and a link to some other cool songs (thanks Aub) and have the project nearly completed. yay! they only thing I'm having trouble with is disagreements about the music with my client. I KNOW that in the business world, the customer is always right and I guess I'm just going to have to learn how to accept that. *sighs*

It was 81 degrees here today and about the same temp yesterday. I am thoroughly enjoying it! the only problem is that we had the windows open and now my Driver's ED text book is full of dust and little bits of grass. ick. grimy paper.

For some reason, all our pens keep disappearing. I have to hunt the house for one before I sit down to do my school work. I'm guessing they disappear into the black hole with the rest of the stuff we can't find. speaking of stuff i can't find, I found three T-shirts I'd lost nearly two months about between my headboard and the wall. now how the heck did they get there?!?!? I'm just going to blame the black hole again cuz that's the easiest thing to do.

tomorrow I'm going BACK to Bovina to re-shoot a few scenes for the wind video. this one guy kept mumbling and this lady's dog wouldn't shut up! the mayor was also sick the last time I went so I'm going to film him as well. I really want to see this project to completion, but I'll be really glad when it's over.

The Wind vid and Used Values

I’m currently working on a commercial/promotional video for this one town that wants to get wind turbines. The town is called Bovina and it’s in Texas. Not everyone is happy with the idea, so one of town council members approached me with the idea of the commercial about why wind energy would be good for their community. I did some interviews with a few of the town’s people who are for the whole wind energy thing on the 19th.

One of the first stops was this store called Used Values. It’s basically an antique shop, except all the antiques are from one person. Well, one Lady and her husband. I guess that would be two people...but i think most of the stuff was hers. I kid you not, the shop was as large as a poll barn and crammed with every kind of object you could think of. It’s like the lady, Marie (she’s 80 something) never got rid of anything! Seriously, she should be in the world record book for being the world’s largest pack-rat. I’m not trying to be mean; I’m trying to give you a mental picture of what the place looked like. I’ve never seen so much junk in my life. I had to take off my coat just to walk down the unorganized isles of…well, junk! There were piles of old records stacked from floor to ceiling and as I said, it’s a poll barn, so the ceiling is really high. This picture doesn’t even do it justice! Get this, she’s got two more whole barns with stuff like that in it! Two barns! Unbelievable!

I am now in the editorial process with this vid and I am scared to death I'm going to mess up! this is the first project where I've had do do something like this on my own. usually, I have either Mr. John or Mrs. Betty giving me pointers. right now, however, they are in Dallas! so this project is all mine. Mrs. Gina said she'll be happy with anything I put out and she knows I'll do my best. I just hope my best is good enough....

Happify (verb) to make happy

Natiform (adj) Buttock shaped

Preantepenult (adj) not the last, not the one before the last, and not the one before the one before the last. the next one.

Sialoquent (noun) one who spits much in his speech

Zugzwang (noun) a disagreeable position in which a chess player is obliged to move but cannot do so without disadvantage

there were a bunch more, but I'm not the writer of the article so...

kill the computer!!!!!

the Internet today, my friends, is being insanely slow and stupid! I tried to log into my website and it gave me that "Internet explorer cannot be found" page. *grumbles* The web can be just as annoying and frustrating as it is fun.

flesh and blood clue

so we had a flesh and blood clue party last night. it's like the board game, but you have real people instead of pawns. it was fun for the most part, but it got to be a little long. we didn't get home to nearly ten.

I also started drivers ed (it's the Diver's Ed in a Box thinggy) and now I'm wishing I hadn't. I KNOW that I NEED to learn how to drive, but the text books and reading through the 105 pages of "driving laws" aint fun in the least! I was talking to JJ and he said it took him a year to get his license because he had to read though all that...*tries to think of a niceish word* stuff! mom wants me to be getting my licence my by be day which is in like 6 months. but I'm sooooo terribly lost! I have a feeling this will be a somewhat gruelling task. =P

book character party

To make this whole post make more sense, I'll take you back to earlier this week...

Rachel: "you could go as Becka from Terrier."

Me: "I can't. I'm almost positive Christiana's going to be Becka."

Rachel: "did she tell you?"

Me: "No, but I have a feeling she's going to be Becka."

Alright. we had a costume party. you had to dress up like your favorite book character. All the people I wanted to be are impossible to play or they are guys. it's funny how that works. I hate it! most the books I like have a guy as a main character. anyway, I was still undecided as I helped my two sisters get into their costumes. I literally had five minutes to pick a costume and get out the door.

I ended up going as Buttercup from the Princess Bride even though I look NOTHING like her. it was better than nothing and I had this blue ex-prom dress that I've used before. it's too long. I kept tripping over the hem. I felt overdressed even though there were a ton of other people dressed in full costume. I get really self conscious in a dress. I HATE wearing dresses. I need to come up with an outfit that's a girl and wears pants...

Oh yeah, I was right about Christina. she WAS dressed like Becka. She hadn't told me (one of the games was guess-what-book-this-person-is-from) and I was right. my clue to her costume was the fact that she had been reading the book recently.

Alright. Gotta go get out of this annoying blue dress. catcha later

Swimming in the Winter

I'm a 5 foot 3 chick, I weigh only 105 pounds and the wind loves to blow right through me. I HATE winter because I can't seem to hold any kind of heat what so ever and I don't really enjoy getting wet without my consent. Why, you ask was I in a Outdoor pool on a day with a 55 degree wind chill? Good question! I'm still asking myself that one!

To back up. you remember in my last post how I said I was filming with Sarah? Well, she needed a pool shot and the only pool available to use was one at a hotel. she didn't just need a pool shot, she needed one in the water. UNDERwater. that means the camera person HAS to be in the water. I guess It's just the crazy film maker in me that actually persuaded me to do that. To get in the pool in the middle of winter. We got some good shots and luckily, there was a hot tub right next to the pool.

Well, here it is the next day and I'm none the worse for my little adventure. It's just one more thing to put with the bare foot on the beach in September, flip-flops and Capris on the OC Boardwalk in early March, the flip-flops no water five mile walk in July, and the driving out to the Caprock without adults. in case you haven't noticed, I'm CRAZY!!!!!!
