christmas shopping

yes I am getting lazy and not posting.

I haven't really started Christmas shopping yet even though I aught to. it's just one of those things. the other bit is what the heck I'm going to give people. a lot of people on my list live clear across the country so that means paying for postage and what not. I've got a film job on Saturday and Sunday so I guess I'll use that money for Christmas presents.

I'm thinking out loud.

I seem to have picked that habit up from my mother.

...I guess that's it. I should have more tomorrow.

Dogs = :P

This is the second time I've taken a pencil from one of my dogs mouths. first it was Dakota, and now it's Jenna. do they like the taste of graphite or what? they are so lucky ppl don't make pencils with lead in them any more then they'd be sick puppies. I can't believe some of the stuff dogs eat. it's disgusting! they eat anything! even chicken crap. ew. :p also when they roll in things. "oh look Cheyenne, I found some cow poo. let's roll it it!"

that reminds me, Cheyenne was rolling in the dirt the other day and when dad went out side to get her he thought he saw a strange dog in our yard. of course it was just Cheyenne covered head to foot in dirt. she looked brown instead of black. thankfully, it was dry dirt not mud so it came off when she shook.

wind bites hard

...this whole peter pan play is driving my family nuts. I'll be glad when it's over.

I have been doing everything and nothing at the same time. it's kind of funny how that works but mostly any person who reads this knows what I'm talking about. We're down to one computer now. our way to old desktop crashed. I don't get online as much as I used to because I have to share the computer with the rest of my family. I haven't been to work in a month either (cuz my bosses took a vacation) so I haven't been bloging there while printing a thousand disks for cheer. I've also just been plain lazy. I think I'm aloud to do that though.

gosh, it's nearly 8:00 pm but it feels like 10! I've been sleeping in lately. BAD for me. I need to start setting an alarm or something. the only problem with that is the fact that I wake up before the alarm goes off. it happens all the time...or I sleep through the alarm. that happens too.

the wind is really bad right now. it bites. hard. owch. I was outside feeding chickens and came back in for something. I'd only been out two minutes and I couldn't feel my fingers! cold wind. hate it. it really bites. owwwwwwwww!

I still want to put our roosters in the stew. I'm sick and tired of the attacking me every time I go in the pen to feed them. they like my dad, but not the rest of us. if my dad wants to keep the roosters, HE should start feeding them.

A few words from the Modnar Dictionary

I will start this post with a few random words from the Modnar Dictionary (currently being created by myself and a few of my friends.)

Lucas Laugh: Verb, Laughing out of duty or sarcasm. eg: ah ha, ah ha, ah ha.

Ana Moment: Verb, When a girl suddenly and briefly goes boy crazy

Craptastic: (crap tas tic) Adjective, When an object is cruddy or not of good quality. bad. eg: "My car is simply craptastic!"

Modnar: (mod nar) Adjective, Random backwards

...that's all I can think of at the moment...

PG-13 problems

why I ask you. WHY do they start setting up Christmas stuff before Halloween!? and then on November 1st all traces of Halloween have been replaced with Christmas? what ever happened to thanksgiving? I feel like ppl rush into Christmas a bit too fast.

I also wonder why they sell merchandise from PG-13 movies aimed at little kids. you know, like an Iron Man t-shirt for a six year old. or action figures of the transformer people. it's the same with the Dark Knight and the Spiderman movies that were not unnecessarily intended for children. None of those movies should be watched by children and yet people sell things to young kids from those movies. it makes me sad and a bit frustrated. I went to HSM3 with my mom for her birthday yesterday and one of the commercials was for a rated R movie. HSM3 is a G movie! why would you show a preview for an R movie?! it's not right, it's not fair, and it's filling little brains with junk!

The costume problem

Halloween is the friday right? I should have a costume by now, yes? Well I'm still hunting! We're having a costume party on friday and yer supposed to dress up like a person from a book or movie. well I wanted to be Marcia Overstrand from the book Maygk. Unfortunately, i haven't been able to find any purple dresses or shoes in this whole freaking town! there isn't anything in Clovis either. So now I am forced to change my costume and can't really think of any other options. (part of my brain is being a real donkey) I do have a few ideas, but they aren't as good. sigh.

passwords

I don't like the fact that for almost any online jig you join, ya need a password. it's sooo annoying not to mention confusing when you have to remember all those passwords. it's not good to have the same password for everything because it then makes it easier for ppl to hack into yer stuff, so I have a ton of passwords. it's going to get even worse when I get older and have to remember all those pin numbers for banking and my social security number.

Have I mentioned how much I HATE numbers. give me letterers any day. they are far easier to remember than a long string of number. ack! Well, I haven't forgotten any of my passwords yet, so I'm good for now. let's keep it that way shall we?

Pray for a Windstorm!

rain. I like rain. I love rain. BUT! I hate it when it drizzles (that rain that kind of hangs around in the air a while before it sinks slowly to the ground) for two days straight and the temperature goes from 80 to 30 degrees in one afternoon. not to mention how it was around 20 degrees the past few nights. hello! I only had one blanket on my bed. brrrrrrrr. I don't like it when the temps jump around! hot cold hot cold hot cold. you can't adjust and yer either really hot or freezing!

My grand parents got here a few days ago. woop de do. they are never going to believe that most the time it's hot and dry here after it's been raining for two days. My mom is hoping for a big windstorm to turn the sky brown like it did in March to show our grandparents that this is NOT a very good place for them to live. they'd hate the wind. there has been hardly any wind at all the last few days and Grandpa said "Is it always so windy here?" he hasn't seen nothin' yet!

list of things I need to do....
1. finish creation project by Friday. =0 (I still have to work on days 5-7!)
2. finish reading inkdeath so I can get that back to the library by the 18th.
3. start and finish Brisingr so I can give it back to Haley
4. pray for a large windstorm
5. wash paint off of fingers...oops.

dead people aren't fun

So I picked up this book called "the sight" right? it looks like a cool book. it has a white wolf on the front and everything. In truth, the reason I picked it up in the first place is because I want to read it's sequel. *shrugs* Something odd: when I went to look for it in the library, it's sequel, called Fell, was in the YA section. but "The Sight" was in adult fiction. there is something mixed up about that.

back to me reading the book: this book, is about wolves. the main characters are wolves (for those of you who did not understand my first statement.) anyway, it is very descriptive, which is good. I like description. Then you get to the dialogue. it's all like "yes, palla, finding the cave would be a good thing." "No, Huttser, we cannot go that way!" the over usage of names is thoroughly annoying, but I keep reading anyway. After all, I don't have anything left on my reading list since I finished book nine in the Pendragon series. Eventually, I get used to some one's name in every sentence.

I get to chapter three (after Morgra curses Larka's family) people start dying! or should I say,  the wolves start dying? The first one to go is Khaz. I think that's how you spell it. I don't have the book in front of me. (for those of you who have read this book, please forgive me if
I spell the names wrong) He falls in a hunter's tap. Then Brassa dies of illness. The wolves leave their home. Then crossing a river, Kipcha dies. She falls off a waterfall. The wolves go see this seer wolf (can't remember her name) and then the seer wolf gets her throat torn out by the Night Hunters (bad guys/wolves). Then the Night Hunters get in a fight with the wolf Bran, and he dies. Pitty. Bran was my favorite wolf! Then the remaining wolves, Huttser, Palla, Fell, Larka and Kar cross a frozen river.  Fell falls though the ice and supposedly drowns. I don't think he really died because the sequel is called Fell. Then Palla and Huttser disappear, leaving Kar and Larka. Kel gets caught in a fire and Larka thinks he's dead. (he's not. I know because I've gotten to a chapter where you find out Kar isn't dead.) Poor Larka is all on her own for a bit and then she meets this eagle named...something that starts with an 'sk'. Note: all those characters die between chapters 3 and 9. it's crazy.

I've gotten to the part where Morgra is discussing an evil plan with her sidekick raven named Kraar. Kraar is an idiot. I'm going to finish the book because I still wanna read the sequel and I want to know how the story ends. I don't think I'll  read these books again. the guy who rights them has an uncomfortable fascination with killing people/wolves!

The reason I'm reading these books is because they are on Ruth's favorite book list on facebook. I want to know. why. btw, Ruth, if you're read this, let me tell you something. YOU ARE CRAZY!

wanted: veggies

so yeah. what have I been doing? erm, nothing? I think. I really not sure. I have been doing stuff but it's kinda like yer every day stuff.

I never thought I'd wish for a salad over french fries. I like french fries. but after a few days of having little to no veggies (not intentionally by either me or my parents it just kind of happened that way) I'm wishing for some. I've had a lot of food recently that's had a lot of grease in it or preservatives. not to mention the twelve orios I had Saturday or the icecream I ate for dinner sunday as I rushed out the door for youth group. I can't take in a lot of grease and fat without feeling sick. which is why I don't eat at McDonald's very often, avoid hotdogs, cut the fat off my stake, and refuse bacon. the last two nights, I've felt a bit sick. from the grease and cookies. We're having a bunch of veggies for dinner, so I'm very happy. I know now why you need a well balanced diet. I did know before, but right now, my body is enforcing the idea that veggies are important.

our chickens finally started laying eggs. we've had five eggs so far...or is it six? it might not seem like a lot now, but soon we're going to have eggs out the wazoo! I'm not sure If I like that besides deviled eggs, I'm not yer biggest egg fan. though it it kind of nice that we don't have to run into town just to get them.

head hurtin' tubble

welcome back to the wonderful world of me. yeah yeah. school is going the same as ever. I find that on week days, sleepiness likes to follow me around until just before bed when my nocturnal senses kick in. (I am soooo a night person) *yawns*

I feel like there isn't anything to do. I've done all my school work for the day, I've done chores, I've done all my online things and I have a whole afternoon left to waste! on what I don't know. I guess I might curl up and dig into the 8th pendragon book. I'm more than half way though it. the problem is that I finish it too quickly, then I'll have to start reading book 9. and that's the most resent book to my knowledge. after I finish 9, I'm going to go insane waiting for book ten. (which is the last book in the series I might add. it's already driving me nuts. note to self: book idea is out until this evening.

I've been having head aches on and off since last week. the people that live around here say it's cuz of the season change. I'm apt to believe it cuz I never got head aches in MD and last year (I was told) was a weird year as far a weather in this area. hence no head aches. though I did get a horrible sore throat and ear ache and it wasn't from infection.

We need to get a different chair for this computer desk. I am typing with my elbows level with my chest. after doing that for a while, it hurts my shoulders. Well I gotta go feed the kitties. I forgot about that chore. I don't know what I'm going to do after that. I might just organize picture files on the computer for the rest of the afternoon and turn the ac (is it up or down) whatever. it's cold in here.

random outhouse fact

Ya wanna know something random? this post has nothing to do with my life since my life has been very dull for what seem like forever and besides complaining about school, there isn't really anything that's worth mentioning.

Now for my random post...Why is there always a crescent moon carved into the door of an outhouse? Well, it used to be that there would be two out hoses: one for guys and one for girls. The guy outhouse would have a sun carved into the door and the girls would have a crescent moon. now some cartoonist decided that he liked the moon shape better and now that's why we have moons on the front of the out house doors.

oh. I think dinosaurs went onto the ark with Noah and were killed either by the climate change after the flood, or by human hands. they did not like a bazillion years before people. I'm not even sure how people came up with that theory. It's true that doinos were not mentioned in the bible, but dragons were. dragons as we all know are mythical creatures that never really existed. they were most likely exaggerations of the large pythons in Asia, or they were dinosaurs that had not yet died out. that might also explain why nearly ever culture has some story about dragons or "large fire breathing lizard". Savvy?

Fall

You say "Hey! it's September!" and the air gets colder. That's what happened. September rolled around and the cold front moved in. not that I mind. it's only a bit cooler. today it was 77 degrees and right now at 9:00 Pm it's around 65 degrees. the wind has picked up complete with that little autumn nip in the air. Fall is my favorite month. the leaves are always so pretty. though the trees we do have around here are pine, so there won't be any color. That's another thing I miss about living in MD. Color!

16? Why me?!

So I walk into chillies, right? and my grandmother says: "Table for three." and the waitress looks at me and says: "Do you want a children's menu?"

Carpooling: lady asks: "So how old are you?" I answer: "Sixteen." Lady says: "really I never would have thought you were that old."

Around: dude says: "Are you really sixteen? cuz you don't look like it."

Friend of Friend looks at my 13 year old sister and asks: "Now which one of you is older? You?"

-_- sure. I don't look my age, but I sure act older than it if you take the time to get to know me. I haven't grown hardly in two years. I still have shoes that fit from three years ago!

I guess it's worse when ppl are always asking you "So are you driving?" "What classes do you want to take in collage?" "Are you working?" "So what do you want to do for the rest of your life?" all this pressure! people are expecting all these things from me! And I'm just worried that I'll get good grades. I don't need people telling me how to live my life or ask a gazillion questions on top of that!

Also, when some people assume that just because I'm a teen, I'm totally stupid and am going to mess up my life and need counseling or something. HELLO PEOPLE! NOT ALL TEENS ARE IDIOTS!

I guess everyone means well, but it's just so freaking annoying! I'm going to get lost in the mountains. Call me when my teen years are over. 'course then I'm gonna have to get married and get a job and raise kids....oh never mind. *bangs head on keyboard* efijmewrihouvwn ieohr

Random post

yeah you dont need to tell me that I haven't posted in a while. with school the way it is, all those other wonderful places in cyberspace to visit, and the fact that nothing worth talking about going on around here, there is no point, and not enough time to post. SO THERE!

But I'm here now to give you you're weekly dose of Kye! how wonderful is that?

I am totally failing in civics, my math has always been bad so that's nothing new, but now my science has turned a pretty bad corner and my poor brain can't keep up with all those rows upon rows of numbers. it might as well be written in Greek! I just hope I can keep my head above it all until the end of school. how come the only stuff I'm good at is extra curricular!?!?!

Rachel is gone for the weekend which means I get her chores and mine, but I guess that's not so bad since I was gone for two weeks. Nathan and Dad are making nesting boxes for our chickens. Yes we haven't done that yet. Mom is doing dishes (which is my chore, but I just finished folding clothes so I think that's why plus I'm uploading photos to my dad's facebook cuz he hasn't done that yet) and Abby is...somewhere. I'm going to have to go look for her....

uh...oh facebook! I got one when I was in MD cuz I was board and then a week ago, my mom asked if she could get one. I didn't ever think she'd ask that, but she did and she has more friends than me! She even found some ppl from collage. Dad got one, or rather, mom got dad one. that is why I am uploading photos, because he's not doing it and it's driving mom nuts.

Our Internet is stinky! it's fast enough I guess, but sometimes it doesn't work. we have wireless and we can't get fiber optic cuz of where we live. Bummer. Sometimes it stops working when I"m in the middle of something. That drives me insane!

Oh. I was freaking out a few days ago cuz I finished a book and I wanted the next one REALLY BAD and the portales library didn't have it and we weren't going to Clovis that day so I was kind of stuck. then I found the book I wanted on iRead. on the day we were going to the clovis library. how messed up is that! oh well. I got it now and I'm happy.

this has been almost as random as Christina's blog.

22

I've never liked guns. in my opinion, they kill to easy and accidents with guns can happen even more easily. Also, even if you don't have sensitive ears like I do, they can be very loud.

My dad got my mom a 22 for an anniversary present. Yeah. he got my mom a gun instead of taking her out to dinner. He says that it would be a good thing for us to learn how to use a gun in case we were attacked or something. Also it would be great for getting rid of coyotes. Sure dad. Whatever.
Nathan was thrilled. surprise surprise.

After giving me the basic "gun safety" talk, he handed me the 22 and told me to aim for the target that was sitting...I don't know, 20 something feet away. I am no Annie Oakley let me tell ya. I only managed to hit the target 9 times out of 20. I hit the bull's eye once. It was a lucky shot. I wasn't worrying about my score, I was just trying to hit the freaking target!

Shopping

Yesterday we went shopping in Lubbock. That's the nearest place around here that has a mall worth visiting and a target. Wal*mart gets old real fast. We left at 7:00 AM in the morning and dropped Mr. Phil off at the airport. Lubbock is two hours away. We started off in borders and I was practically drooling over the books selections. I didn't buy anything though. We went to the craft store and then headed to the mall. I got lost. I don't seem to be able to navigate in any mall. I always get lost. The most fun I had all day yesterday was when we went to the Christian book store. We probably spent a good half hour reading all the T-shirts. I got two. We didn't get home until 6 something P.M. The poor dogs spent all day in the kennel.

Cooking Class? What For?

As luck would have it, I was able to get the ipod unfrozen. I'm not really sure how though. One of those freak things I guess.

Last week we stared school. We were only working on one or two subjects and only did it for three days out of the week. This week, we are really starting. My mom is going to put us though a cooking class. I don't like to cook. But I can cook if I have to. that's why everything has instructions on it and there are things called cook books. So why must I suffer though a culinary arts class? True I shrink away from the hot stove, but I'm working on that burn-a-phobia thing. I make great pot pie and cooked carrots. And dad has showing me how to makes mashed potatoes and Garvy. bisects and cornbread are a sinch! I mean, you really can't go to wrong if you follow the directions. I like making cookies, though there was that one time I misread the instructions on the back of the chocolate chip bag and end up with cookie soup. But Hey, I'm 16! I'm learning! and I don't think I need a class to tell me to add more flour to my cookie batter if it looks soupy. I learned that the hard way.

****!

I am sooooooo ticked! the whole technology world seems to be against me. First my camera, then the computer, and now my ipod! The stupid thing somehow currupted! What the heck is wrong this week? It's not like I'm addicted to the computer or anything. if there is a lesson in here God, can you hurry up and get done teaching it!?!?

Camera again

Hey this is Kye talking about the camera thing again. if you're like me and you tend to damage yer camera, make sure that you break it within 30 days. then you might be able to swap it out for a new one at the store you bought it from. I got my camera on 7/16/08. now it is 8/15/08. I was so close to having to go though that whole reimbursement thing again. I so Lucked out! So now I don't feel so stressed. But no more rain for me. na ah.

Knew Better

This is to re-enforce what I said yesterday about making rain movies with a consumer's digital camera. NEVER attempt it! All that dirt and water that I was talking about destroyed my camera. the worst part is that I KNEW better than to put that thing in water. Water and camera's don't mix. (duh) I wanted to crawl under a rock and die this morning. As I said, I knew better. Something similar happened to my last camera. But did I learn from that last lesson? NOOOOOOO! I think this one's gonna stick though. Going though two cameras in one year is just not right. *Bangs head on Keyboard* obeiojewiouetk dhf

Stand in the Rain? I think Not

I"m going to say this out right. Don't EVER try to make a movie that happens in the dark and in the rain when all you have is the movie setting on your digital camera. It is NOT a good idea. You know 'Stand in the Rain' by Superchick? Well, I'm trying to use that song and make a music video for it. The problem (besides only having a dinky digital camera) is the fact that when it rains around here, it's a huge storm with lightning and everything. You don't want to be out filming in that. So we have to "make rain" with the hose. After two nights of fruitless filming, I'm about to give up. Besides, I don't like getting soaked to the bone with the hose! I'm gonna give it one more shot and hope it pays off.

Painting Nightmare

K I haven't been doing any posting cuz there isn't really anything interesting to post about. my life has been going along like normal without any Major highlights.

Today, Nathan asked me if he could use my paints so he could paint a picture to enter in the fair in two weeks. I thought this was a good idea so I pulled out my art box and my brushes. (for those of you who don't know, I used to take an art class when I lived in MD and I had quite a few nice brushes, paints and art experience) I sat down with a black piece of paper in front of me and began to paint with reds, yellows and oranges. Also black. Black sometimes does show up on black nicely. Anyway Abby came into the room.

"Can I paint?"

"Not right now Abby. And NOT with these paints"

"Can I paint?"

"No!"

She went to get mom. meanwhile, Rachel came in the room. "I want to paint too!"

Before I knew it, all four of us kids were sitting around the table using my paints and panting with my nice five dollar and up brushes. *cringes*. I got a little stressed because not all of my sibs know how to use the brushes so they don't break the bristles. ok, I was FREAKING OUT! it didn't help that the dogs were running around like mad around the kitchen. Nothing really bad happened to my brushes (luckly) but I don't think I want to go though that again any tine soon. It was a painting Nightmare. I did end up with a nice piece of finished work though.

Rest of the Week

Sunday the 27th: That walk i took with Ruth caught up to me and I could barley stay awake during church. I ended up taking a nap when I got back to my grand parents. It was just me this time. No Friends. Which was nice and annoying at the same time. I didn't really have anything to do. I talked Granny into going back to blockbusters and I found 'Alex Rider: Operation Stormbraker'. it was based on the first book of the Alex Rider series. Cuz the screen play was written by the author of the books, it was a really good movie. I got to sleep in that big sleep number bed again.

Monday the 28th: What did I do on Monday? Oh yeah. I went to the library to see if my card still worked. (I hadn't used it in a year) turns out that I needed to tell the librarian my old phone number and I couldn't remember it. She let me check the book out anyway (even though I was from out of state) because It was just one book and she's seen me often enough that she knows I'll bring the book back. Then I went over the Alyssa's. Guess what we did? We went on a walk. Yes I'm stupid. Feet still have blisters from Friday btw and I made them worse. It a nice walk anyway. I went past the place where I used to live. The ppl that live there now planted a few more trees and the swing set is no longer there. I didn't watch a movie that night.

Tuesday the 29th: I got my hair cut/trimmed and then went to Kmart to get a new hair brush. spent most of the afternoon finishing the library book and on the computer. Then Jen came over at 5:00 PM. We played kings in the corner and I emptied my hand in the first play. Then we went to blockbusters (again) and got Aurthur and the invisibles. Jen and I ended up crying because we were laughing so hard.

Wednesday the 30th: I'm going home tomorrow. Jen and I went on a short walk and then played around with our cameras. We hug them on the clothes line and then sat underneath and tried to get a picture of us both laying on the ground. it didn't really work but it was a lot of fun. I'm going to be going back to Alli's tonight and her mom is going to take me to the airport in the morning. So ends my stay in Maryland.

Week So Far...

k so this is how my week has been so far. (if there are a ton of typos, it's cuz I'm using a strange keyboard)

Tuesday the 22: I had to spend two hours sitting in the air port cuz the flight was delayed and then spend four hours on the plane listening to two ladies talk about babies. When I got to BWI, Alli picked me up and we had ice cream. =) Then we were up till the wee hours of the morning talking. Spent the night in a nice regular bed.

Wednesday the 23: Spent all day at the mall! (we don't have those were I live) We window shopped in various places and bought a few things, went and saw WALL-E. I'd seen it before but Alli hadn't. Spent the night on a couch bed.

Thursday the 24: this is where I switched friends. We met Ruth in the burger king parking lot. I couldn't get the darn door on Alli's van open and when I finely did, Ruth jumped on me with this bear of a hug. I went home with her and said good-bye to Alli. That night, I got to see X-man. ya know that the twin towers are still standing in that movie? I'm guessing it's cuz the movie was made before 9/11. Spent the night in a tent and was a nice feast for little blood-sucking pests.

Friday the 25: Here is something you should NEVER do. Go on a five mile walk right before lunch time without water while wearing flip-flops. You will regret it for the rest of the week! Ruth and I left on a walk to the Laurel reservoir just before lunch and didn't get back until 4:00 PM. We were walking the whole time too. Didn't stop at all. When we finally did get back to her house, we drowned ourselves in glasses of water and then fell asleep on Ruth's bed. Our feet hurt so much it was hard to walk. Ugh. Ow. My Cuz picked me up then. I spent the night with her on a blow up air mattress after watching Fight Plan and listening to Em's hamster run around on it's wheel a million times.

Saturday the 26: I proved to the world that I suck at Minni golf. and regular golf. End of discussion. I'm gonna spend the night at Granny's in a nice, soft, sleep number bed. Heaven!

Leaving!

I am going to get up in the morning and drive for four hours with my family to Albuquerque so I can get on an airplane and fly for a long time until i get to the east coast and Baltimore. I'm really excited. I get to see all my old friends again. but right now, I'm freaking out. I keep thinking that I forgot to put something in my luggage...

I'm going to try to keep the blog updated while I'm there. (that is if ppl are nice enough to let me barrow their computers)

See some of yo peeps when I get back! MD here I come!

Birthday (half) Surprise

*Yawns. Rolls over and starts to fall asleep. Then remembers that the Blog did not get updated. Groans. Tumbles out of bed and heads for the computer…” not really. I am a bit tired though. I didn’t go to sleep until after 1:00 AM last night and then for some stupid reason, my body woke me up at six. Why? I don’t know and I am being punished for it now. *yawns*

Before I start telling you about my day, I’m gonna back up to the 11th. There is a Blog post about the costume party that happened on the 11th. Anyway, it was at that party that I was notified that someone was planning a surprise party for me. one of the moms of one of my friends said, “I’m sorry Hannah, but we can’t make it to your party.” I’m thinking, what party? Then my friend pulls her mom away with this look on her face that said “You’ve said too much.” I don’t think I would have thought about it further if it hadn’t been for that “look.” Little lights and flags were going off in my head. Something was up and I bet I knew what. During the following week, little things confirmed my hunch. My family was planning a surprise party. I bet I knew who would be invited but I didn’t know when. So, keeping my guess to myself, I’ve spent all this week clamped down on my tongue waiting to see a bunch of my friend pop up somewhere unexpected.

Here’s were my smarts turn to idiocy. I never thought that the surprise party would be ON my actual birthday. So in the end, I was surprised. Which was fun. I always tend to ruin surprises for myself. And it’s not cuz I snoop or anything. It’s the fact that my brain puts pieces together really quickly and if any of you know what I mean, you are familiar with the fact that it’s quite annoying not just for the ppl who want to surprise you, but for yourself. Sometimes I just want to tell my brain to shut up. But it never does.

BTW. For those of you that were at my party, thanks so much for coming. Especially those who live more than a half hour away.

Finding the Silver Lining

K! My week just got brighter and just in time! My 16th birthday is tomorrow! I’ve been kind of feeling crummy all week cuz, one: my camera broke so I had to send it in (which I did last month) and get a voucher so I could go by a replacement. It came in the mail Tuesday so that made my worries a little less. I bought my new and better camera this afternoon. Two: I had some books on hold at the library and was waiting for them to come in. Meanwhile, I was reading some really crumby books. The books came in Wednesday and I picked them up this afternoon. Yeay! Three: its summer so everybody’s busy had has very little time to fool around on the computer, so my internet life had gone waaaaaaay down. No emails or ppl to chat with while I was online. I had a few emails from ppl I hadn’t seen in a while tonight! Even more happy! Five: I found out today that I’m gonna have to bet braces in…September I think? But I’ll only have to have them on for one year! HAH! My teeth aren’t THAT bad.

Yeah I might be being a little too optimistic right now (I’m acting way out of character) but I’m in a good mood so looking for the silver lining can’t hurt. ;)

Missing James

Right now, I am sitting in the back room at the school table. Nathan and Abby are playing on the other side of the room and Rachel is playing Lego Loco on the computer that's out here. I'm on the laptop. Why are we out here? Answer: flooring. we have ppl in the house putting down new flooring in the laundry room, kitchen, and the two bathrooms. and us kids have to stay out of the way which is fine with me. I"m not even sure what color the flooring is gonna be.

Last night, I had a dream that I was standing out side our old church in MD. So I went up the steps and into the building. The service had already started so I just scooted into the row with Ruth, Alli, Kyleen, and Alyssa. Don't ask me why Alyssa was there. Anyway, whoever was preaching asked us to turn to the book of James in the bible. For the life of me, I couldn't find the book of James. and it wasn't because I don't know how to search the bible or anything, it was because the book of James simply wasn't there! It wasn't in the bible. I have no idea what this dream meant if anything. I just found it weird. another thing is that if felt so real. i could feel Alli's shoulders pressed against mine because we were so crowed in the pew. I could also feel the thin paper pages of the Bible I had in my hand. Kind of freaky. But it's not the first "real" dream I've had.

Medieval Costume Party

Ok. I’m gonna start with what happened yesterday, because obviously, I didn’t Blog yesterday. My dad brought home a dead bat. Yeah. One of those fuzzy creatures that fly around at night. He brought it home for us to look at. Eew

Now for today…Sarah had a medieval costume party this evening and I was going to go as a princess in this really nice gown we got at Good Will. But I’m not really comfortable in big flouncey dresses, so my mom took me to wal*mart to see if we could find another costume. My mom is probably one of the best moms on the planet. She took me to wal*mart last minute. Like, an hour before the party. We didn’t find one and I had to go as the princess.

Taboo is a weird game. But it’s even weirder when you have these people who look like they’re from middle earth holding a plastic buzzer. We didn’t play taboo for long. We changed games and played Apples to Apples instead. That was fun.

Sarah and her brother brought out some real swords and an old bow. Then the boys had a fight with plastic pipes. Come on, you aren’t going to let a few teens swing swords at each other. There was also music going from the Narnia movies and LOTR and other movies. When one of the Narnia themes came on, I gathered my skirts and ran across the lawn yelling “CHAAAAAAARGE!” not everybody saw me, but the people who did laughed. It was a fun evening. I’d love to do it again some time.

For more pics from the party, click here. You have to scroll down to the bottom of the page.

Forgotten Dragon Homework

If there was ever a movie that was poorly put together, George and the Dragon would be it. We got it from the movie store because my dad said it looked interesting. From the beginning, I thought that the movie was poor. I’m not going to say cheesy, because that doesn’t really quite cover it. What annoyed me the most, was the lack of plot, stale dialogue, old gags, and the rotten selection of music. There was carnival music going during a fight scene! I did like the costumes for the most part. And some of the camera angles.

I think the worst part of the whole thing were the dragons. Clearly, someone forgot to do their homework. They had western LAND dragons, swimming! Plus the dragon egg was wayyyyyyyy to large. There is something called, Dracology (study of dragons) that was not in the least used in this film. The best part of the movie was the outtakes!

Summer Boredness Leads to Madness

Mom more or less kicked us out of the house this afternoon saying it was to nice of a day to spend in the house. Sensible or her really. In any case I did go outside. And I took a book with me. I went out the the horse shelter, next to the chicken coop and sat in on of our camp chairs. I must have been sitting there for a least 20 minutes before Nathan found me. He came right up and snatched the book away from me. I was a bit annoyed. he had taken it mid-sentence.

"Chase me!" he said. I didn't move.

"Chase me or you are not gonna get the book back." I let a smile creep over my face. I didn't do anything. I didn't have to. All I had to do was wait. He was gonna give me that book back without effort on my part. He then proceeded to threaten the book's well being if I didn't chase him. The thing is, he was soooooooooooo bored, he went looking for trouble. And I wasn't going to rise to his bait. he wouldn't harm the book anyway. it was a library book. He knew I knew all this. but that didn't stop him trying to get my goat for 15 minutes.

He did carry out two threats. he dipped the binding in the pool water (thank goodness the paperback had some kind of plastic coat on it) and he did throw it under some old cow poop. again, thank goodness for the plastic coat. I did have to clean the book off, and some of the pages (plus the book marker) did get a little wet. but the words in the book we unharmed.

So yeah. He gave up trying to anger me, gave me the book back and left me alone. I bet he wished I didn't know him so well. I probably know him better than either of my other 2 sibs.

BTW: Happy fourth all!

last night, our little town had a fireworks show. they had to do it on the third because the firework company had to be somewhere else tonight.

2TAV

Today was a busy day for me. At work anyway. I was running off inserts, printing DVDs Burning DVDs stuffing DVD cases and loading paper into the printer when the paper became low.

For those of you who have no idea what I am talking about, I work for 2Talents AV productions. ( A small home business in my town. Although there are ppl in TX that ask 2T to film or photograph things. I have two bosses. MR. John, and MRS. Betty. I’m kind of apprenticing, assisting, and playing a bit of a secretary for them. Not that I mind. It’s all quite fun really. And I’ve been learning a lot about the whole film process. (everything from capturing footage to editing and burning DVDs.) I’ve done more video than photography. But the demand in this place is for people who film more than it is for pictures so it isn’t really surprising.

Yeah so that about wraps my day up in a nice little package.

Summer Bordness Leads to Neatness

I got to go to a little makeup party this afternoon. I’ve never been a big makeup person, but I’ve never really had any to put on either. The stuff I bought is all natural tones so it doesn’t really look like I’m wearing makeup which is fine with me.

I also organized my sock drawer. Yeah I’m kind of weird that way. I like to make sure my drawers are all neat. It never says that way unfortunately. But if it can be nice for one day that’s good. Oh and I also picked up my closet, and cleaned a bit under my bed. Wanna know something weirder? I folded all my clothes too. ALL of them. Yeah I was more than a bit bored today.

Swamp!

I never thought I’d say. “My yard looks like a swamp!” but of course, I never thought my mother would watch LOTR either. I am beginning to think that anything is possible in my crazy life. Anyway, about the swamp. We were re-filling the pool (cuz it’s one of those little three ft deep blow up kind) and someone left the water on until the water level in the pool was almost above the blue blown up rim. Uh oh. It was fine for a little bit, but then G-force started pulling on the one side of the pool. It was pulling the pool over. Just a little bit. And then, wooosh! All that water went over the side up the pool. Leaving the pool half empty (or half full) and the yard completely swamped! Well, most of the yard. The part by the pool and the deck anyway. Mom wonders why it couldn’t have spilt on her flower garden.

The consequences of the swamp: Our dogs (all four of them) went out and played in the “swamp” and then came in the house. Wet/muddy dogs = muddy paw prints all over the kitchen. We have a bit of work cut out for us either this evening or tomorrow I think.

Jenna

Our family number grew yet again! Not with people, but with pets. Another puppy. I am beginning to wonder what we’ve gotten ourselves into. We already have an 8-year-old, 70 pound Black Lab (Sadie), 2 Catahoula 15 week old puppies that are 26 and 32 pounds (Cheyenne and Dakota), and now we have a 5 or 6 week old Australian Shepard (Jenna). I feel so bad for our two cats (Chessy and Socks). They are out numbered. I totally live on a pet farm.

Jenna is so cute though. And she's a little less wild than the other two. I hope it stays that way.

LOTR

I never thought I’d live to see the day when my mother would watch the Lord of the Rings. Not only Lord of the Rings, but the EXTENED version! She doesn’t like a ton of violence. Anyway, this week end, my family watched all three extended versions of LOTR (Lord of the Rings.) Abby watched it too. She handled the movies quite well.

One thing that bugs me in the Two Towers is that Legolas’ eyes kept changing colors. One minute they’re blue, and the next they’re brown. For the whole movie! I’m not sure what was going on there.

End to End

Today has been quite the day. I painted with my little sister this morning and then this after noon I made paper. It made this cloudy blue paper that I plan to write a letter to my pen pal on. Jodi made pinky blue paper and Rachel, the same.
We saw a rainbow this evening when we got hit with a strong, but brief storm. We saw where it touched the ground. that is something you don’t see every day. I don’t think you can see it in the picture, but the rainbow is in front of the tree across the road. You could also see the whole ark end to end if you looked down the street. It was really cool
Oh yeah, Jodi is sleeping over and about 15 minutes ago, we finished painting some really nice pictures. I don't think I'll get any reading done tonight.

*Jumps for Joy*

I am done with that dance DVD project! Hooray! No more listening to ABC’s or songs that repeat the word “sexy” over and over again! I don’t know how many ppl know this, but there is a lot more to making a movie/DVD than just the filming. I think, and this is just from the stuff that I’ve been doing, that filming is the easiest part. And the part that takes the least amount of time. Let me tell you this...WRITING CREDITS TAKES FORVER!!!!!! If I were to take a job with a movie company, I would not want to be the one who writes the credits or the subtitles.

Hot *pant* I like it better when it’s hot outside than when it’s cold, but I’d rather have it be a nice, mid temp all the time. That is why I like fall best.

In God We Trust

What is it with people trying to get rid of God? Click this link to read about the New Dollar Coin. At first glance, this coin looks like any other gold dollar coin. At second glance, you notice that the words "In God We Trust" is no longer written on the coin. But if you look closely (see link for pictures) the words are still there, written on the edge. Hidden. Has it come to this that we have to hide what we believe in? Are we ashamed?

It's getting hotter, And I'm not liking it.

Chickens

Yeay! Swim lessons are over and done with. I didn’t pass cuz I couldn’t really do the butterfly stroke, but I’m not to unhappy about it. I have a really bad suntan line. You can see from ten feet away where the straps on my swimsuit were. Ack!

Nathan I Built a perch for the chickens today. It was really hot and Nathan was dripping sweat. It took us forever to find the screw-gun and scrap wood that didn’t have a ton of nails in it. The chickens like it. That’s a good thing.

Books!!!! (yes again)

Books are like another world. A world that you can escape to as soon as you slip though the pages and into the story itself. That has to be one of the things about books that I like best. It’s also a lot of fun to talk about books with other people who have read the same book or is also an avid book reader. I could go on and on about books, mainly because I’ve read so many. It’s a topic I never seem to tire of. Unfortunately, I seem to wear other people out. So is the curse of the Book Worm.

When I do get a chance to talk about books, I jump at it. (duh) This time, it was with the STAR (Some Teens Are Reading) program at the library. One of the nice things about living in a small town is getting to do more things with other people. I’m mostly talking about book clubs. Anyway, this week’s topic/book: The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke. We watched the movie, which was based off the book, and then talked about the differences between the book and the movie. Heaven!!! I must say my stupid shyness kept me from talking too much. I mostly listened to other’s opinions. That is how I learn most of what I know anyway. As I said, anything with books, for me anyway, is fun.

Abby got earrings today. She was very happy about it to until a few minutes ago when she learned that she’d have to keep the earrings in when she goes to bed or the holes close. She’ll live. I did. (Then again, mostly everyone does…)

♫ I Am Going Nuts! ♫

Right now, I’m hungry. But that doesn’t have anything to do with this post.

Ok so now it’s to the editing stage of that one solo film job. I hate the editing stage cuz it takes the longest. Also, I have to edit the different dances, which means I have to listen to all those little supposedly cutesy dace songs. Like ♫ Ballet is so much fun to do! Fun for me! Fun for you! Let me do a ballet dance for you. ♫ or ♫ It’s a Broadway birthday party for a special dinosaur “ho, ho, ho! I’m the birthday dinosaur!" ♫ -_- yeah you catch my drift. I am so glad I’m getting 200 bucks out of this thing or I might have gone and found a lake somewhere and jumped in. I was not very happy when I came home from work, let me tell you.

Cookies! I gotta go now and sample these nice cookies mom just pulled out of the oven.

For the Love of My Sister

Abby has this big stuffed bear. It’s white, with a red and green bow and it used to have jingle bells tied on ribbons around it’s neck. It’s a Christmas Bear. So naturally, we put it away when Christmas ended. Yesterday, Abby started crying because she all of a sudden decided to miss that bear. So this morning, Mom sent Nathan up into the attic to look for it. One problem. Which box is it in?

It’s 90 something degrees outside and in the attic it’s twice as hot. Nathan must have looked though all the Christmas boxes and when I joined him in the search, I looked in a lot of the other boxes. I went all out even searching in all the closets and under all the beds. No bear. I’m beginning to think we gave the bear away because WE STILL CAN’T FIND IT!

I’m about ready to just stand in one place and say “I want that stuffed bear back!” I mean, if God can leave our missing Shepard’s staff in my closet, he can certainly find that bear for us. He might even drop it on Abby’s bed…

Welcoming The Rain

Have you ever looked out the window and thought. “Oh great, it’s raining again! Now my fun filled day is ruined.” That is the way I used to feel 2 years ago when I lived in Maryland. We did have a few droughts, but there was always rain from time to time. We had rivers and GREEN grass. I always took the rain as a nuisance or for granted. Not anymore.

I live in a very dry. Very windy, very dusty town. It is so dry here that the grass is brown almost all year. The only green places you are going to find is in front of the buildings with the built in sprinkler system. There is also a lot of exposed dirt, and as I said, it’s very windy all the time. So we get dust storms a lot. Sometimes the sky is brown cuz of all the dirt in the air.

What I’m getting at with all this is that when it rains. It is something wonderful and refreshing. Living here has made me appreciate the gigantic thunderstorms and cherish the little afternoon drizzles. I welcome the rain arms open, face uplifted. Listening the sound and smelling the fresh sent of the life giving rain. It feels good.

I think that is one way we should receive God’s love. He always loves us. But sometimes we don’t think about it or take it for granted. If he pulls away slightly, you feel the loss. Of course he doesn’t pull away from you because he’s angry. It is simply a way for him to get you to move closer. So when he picks you up again, you feel his love even more than before the time when you felt his love was lacking. You stand in his presence, arms open, letting his love shower down on you like a life giving rain.

*Pant*

Ok. New Blog. I don’t feel like telling you why.

Swim lessons! Fun. -_- I hope Dad doesn’t make me take them again next year. Today, we started off in the deep end. Could not touch the side of the pool. We had to tread water for a minute and then front crawl to the other side of the pool and back. Then we had to tread again. And then front crawl again. Tread. Front crawl. NO TOCHING THE WALL! We did this for seven minutes. AND IT’S A FREAKING LARGE POOL! At the end of the lesson. We had to swim the width of the pool back and fourth front crawl and breath stroke for TEN minutes. WITHOUT STOPING! *pant* I don’t always take naps. But I did take one when I got home today.
